BJ Thomas

BJ Thomas sings "Hooked On A Feeling" to Be

Looking a bit dazed and unsteady, BJ Thomas took the stage at EPCOT and showed the audience that you can survive years of substance abuse and still sing circles around some of the biggies. Although removed from the audience to an extent as he tried to remember lyrics and concentrated on several belabored fumblings with his mic chord Hey, BJ, ever heard of 'wireless?' he was quite pleasant to the fans when he focused on them and was most comfortable when singing his big hits. "Raindrops", "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry", and "Hooked On A Feeling" were just some of his long string of hits from the 60s.

We sat amazed that he could still do all the vocal twists, turns and gymnastics in the original keys, just like his recordings - he performed several extended versions of songs where he just about scatted to the delight of the audience.

BJ Thomas has got to be one happy man to be where he is, having survived his drug induced past and mismanagement to the tune of 13 million. He could probably do his own "Survivor" series.

Not unlike a somewhat scary apparition,
BJ Thomas heads right toward Be's camera/phone
at EPCOT's "Flower Power" Concert Series.
